The making of art must not be left to professionals.
Art is narrative, communicative and therapeutic, it is not only product but process, a tool for living,
and it belongs to all of us.
Letter Workshop:
Letters Beyond Language: A visual journey to develop self awareness, self expression, clarity and empathy, liberated from the limits of linguistics.
Beyond Words
Words: they are incredibly useful and often beautiful signposts that allow us to communicate, but sometimes they also restrict us from a deeper, or different kinds, of communication of the experiences, emotions and aspects of self that exist beyond language. Through visuals this workshop focuses each persons creative mind on a particular idea, issue or relationship that is important to them and, by exploring a personal, visual language, opens doors to self awareness, self expression, clarity and understanding by working on a level that is beyond words.
Private and Shared Experience
The workshop is importantly both private and communal. It is private in that your expression and discoveries do not need to be uncovered or explained to anyone else, the aim is exploration rather than explanation. This allows for catharsis, for people to be utterly free to express what comes up for them. It is communal in that, by using these private languages to work together in the ‘mapping’ part of the workshop, we are each heard and seen, witnessed and accompanied but not exposed. There is a space held for mutual recognition of the depth and complexity that exists within each of us beyond the boundaries and bonds of linear explanation.
It is a marvel to see how rich and diverse this expression can be and, at the end of the workshop, you will have a momento, a manifestation of this journey to remind you of the experience and that these tools are yours and always open to you.
